About me

I have been a professional massage therapist since gaining the VTCT Swedish Massage qualification in 2009, quickly going on to qualify as a Bowen Practitioner in 2010, and then as a Scar Worker in 2017.

In 2010 I became a member of the Healing Hands Network, traveling to Bosnia twice to work with civilian survivors of the civil war suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and physical injuries.  On return, I pursued my preferred interest in working with UK forces suffering from the physical and mental effects of war.

In doing so, I became more interested in how PTSD affects people, so decided to go to university to study Human Biology and Psychology.  I then began psychotherapy training in order to become more holistic in my work of treating the body and the mind.

During that time, I discovered Human Givens and decided to become a HG Practitioner, gaining the Diploma in 2020. This completed the body/mind link and enabled me to be truly holistic in how I give treatments.

I am currently working towards practitioner status and am offering FREE therapy sessions for (anonymous) case studies.

Human Givens Counselling/Psychotherapy Training

“The human givens approach – which was developed 20 years ago – derives from the understanding that, when essential emotional needs are met and our innate mental resources are used correctly, a human being will be emotionally and mentally healthy. Essential psychological needs identified over decades of work by health and social psychologists include needs for autonomy, sense of control, security, connection, attention, achievement, status and meaning. Innate resources, much studied by neuroscientists, include our abilities to learn from experience, plan, judge, imagine, relate one thing to another, empathise, develop a moral sense, remember, etc.”

I am very proud to be associated with Human Givens, and it is my pleasure to adopt their philosophy for the therapies I provide.
